Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chenes 2014 Prunier Bonheur

Typical and classical Volnay. The soil at Clos des Chênes contains a high percentage of limestone and gives a wine of perfume and finesse with an extra generosity of fruit.
A beautiful, intense and luminous, ruby colour. A floral nose dominated by an aroma of violet, a signature of this wine. Nice texture with floral and fruity flavours that seem to linger for a long time”.
This is among the top 10 most highly rated Volnay Clos des Chenes wines (based on critic scores): the 2014 vintage was given a score of 91 by Tim Atkin.

The difficulty with Red Burgundy is waiting till it’s ready to drink – as they sell out so quickly, you have to buy them when just released. So when we find some stock with a little bit of aging, we do get quite excited!
While drinking beautifully now, there is no rush to finish it. You’ll have loads of time!

Interesting Fact!   Pascal Prunier-Bonheur makes a Gamay wine, from 2 parcels in Meursault & Auxey, on flatter vineyards.  Not available currently in Ireland, but we thought that was interesting!
