Chateauneuf-du-pape Chante Perdrix 2017 Rhone, France
Full-bodied but very soft and approachable. Elegant with flavourful fruit notes, with a mix of spices on the palette. Long, soft finish with fine and precise tannins.
A great wine for the price – Chateauneuf is a very large region with lots of great wines and also lots of ordinary/over-priced examples.
As with most wines – the producer is so important. Fereric Nicolet has taken over from his father and the Domaine traces it’s roots back to 1890’s!
Not to be compared to those Supermarket wines that were mysteriously reduced from €30.00 to €15.00 on offer!
Domaine Chante Perdrix is best served with all types of classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, roasted, braised, stewed dishes, sausage, barbecue and cassoulet. Domaine Chante Perdrix is also good with Asian dishes, hearty fish courses like tuna, mushrooms pasta, eggplant, tomatoes and cheese.
Try serving it slightly cooler that your normal red wines – the cool, almost cellar temperature gives the wine more freshness and lift.
