Bourgogne Rouge 2016, Domaine Henri Gouges, Burgundy, France

Domaine Henri Gouges is a top-rated producer in Nuits St Georges. Traditionally, these wines would require a huge amount of patience while you waited for them to age and open up.
The newer generation of the family have tweaked things a little in that you can now drink these wines after a few years – and not have to wait til your 90th birthday!
This Bourgogne Rouge is more like everyone else’s village Nuits.
The Bouquet is clean, pure and quite generous, with blackberry, raspberry preserve and undergrowth scents, all well-defined. Medium-bodied palate with a fresh tart entry. The length is reassuringly long.

Decanter: Gouges a name to look out for.
Jancis Robinson: an under the radar Burgundy Domaine, resulting in good value wines
